As part of the World Diabetes Day 2023, Retina Global's Project Kenya team organized a screening camp where 502 patients were screened, 437 tested for diabetes and 137 underwent eye evaluation.
The organization, through its partnership with Kisaruni Community Action organization and Narok County Government, had identified Sogou Health Center that has a catchment population of 40,000 patients.
Health education was focused on the importance of knowing the risks associated with diabetes, how to delay or prevent the condition, and highlighting the impact of diabetes-related complications, as well as the importance of having access to the right information and care to ensure timely treatment and management.
Wonderful to see the major efforts by the team in making this screening exercise a massive success.
Kudos to Team Kenya - Diane Steinhilber, Project Lead; Nehemiah Kahato & Kelvin Kayere, Project Coordinators; and the team from Letein.
